Those 2am phone calls are never good.

Our niece was the one calling us. Hubbys brother and his wife were involved in a head on collision on the way home from baby sitting their grandchildren Sunday morning and had to be cut out from the car. The girls said their car looked like a Mini convertable it was smashed so bad.

As of last night, Brian had a broken rib plus the body hurts all over, that's pretty understandable and his blood pressure keeps dropping. Poor guy can't stand up without having a really hard time breathing.

Carol has a fractured breast bone, her face is pretty badly swollen and badly bruised from the air bag. Every time they try to sit her up she faints, I think from the pain but I'm really not sure, plus her body hurts all over.

It could have been a much worse outcome.

Six years ago today

My daughter in law was due to fly from Newark back to Ontario airport, CA.

My daughter was taking a two week class in the WTC.

I telephoned my grand kids and talked to their great grandma who didn't know what time dil was supposed to leave Newark.

I couldn't get hold of my daughter to see if she was OK. Thank to the powers that be, she got in touch with me to tell me her class had been cancelled and she was safe in CA.

Hours late I got my dil's work phone number and talked to the people she worked with who knew that her flight wasn't until 11:30ish. At least I was able to give the grands some good news. Fortunately her co workers knew who I was and how close Wendy and I were.

This information took hours to gather and in the mean time my heart was breaking. The grand kids didn't know where their mummy was. God it was an emotional day, from heart breaking to joyful.

My heart and thoughts are as they are every year with the family and friends of those who were in the WTC who died and to the rescuers who didn't make it out in time.

Friendly fire???????

The person who gives to order to fire, doesn't he/she/they know where the bad and good guys are? Is this so difficult? Really that is a valid question. I have never been in the military so of course I don't know how things work.

I understand it would be more than a bit hectic, but really is it that easy to fire upon and kill the allies that are on your side? Again this too is a valid question. Can anyone out there explain to me how this happens?

Sadly we lost three troops to friendly fire, what I find even sadder this isn't the first time.

My heart felt sympathies to the families and friends of these brave people.
