Prostrate Cancer Treatment days 12 and 13

Tuesday was a quick treatment day, we were out by his appointment time LOL we love that when it happens. John was feeling very tired and moody yesterday but got the moodiness under control very well. He didn't do anything for the rest of the day except veg on the couch and really wasn't that interested in dinner but he did eat most of it. Last night he slept from 12 until 7 this morning which was 3/4 hours long than he normally gets.

This morning was a different matter entirely, he looked like hell was as white as a ghost. And had rotten tummy troubles. Constipated big time. He kept running to the loo to go but he just couldn't go. Was in a lot of tummy pain, headache and had really bad nausea. He didn't think he'd make the 27 miles to the hospital for treatment, so I phoned and that was ok. They will add one more treatment at the end of it. John does take a prescription drug for constipation every day because of the IBS so today he upped it from one to two which is what he should take but found that one worked just fine. The consultant did tell him that he could either get constipated or have diarrhea. Giggle I gave him prunes and custard for lunch because he didn't think that he could get much else down. After a nap for a couple of hours he woke up feeling a lot better.

The doctor told us that the side effects would kick in after about two weeks and boy they have kicked in big time, poor guy. Hopefully tomorrow he'll feel well enough to go for treatment. Hospital did say when I phoned them this morning that if he wasn't feeling up to it tomorrow it would be ok to give it a miss but I know John doesn't want to. He said that if he'd felt like he did now this morning he would have gone for treatment.

Prunes and custard. I like prunes, don't really like custard though.

Hi, I found the link to your journal in my blog. I used to work on a urology ward when I was nursing, so I have nursed lots of people with protstate cancer. My heart goes out to you both and I hope your treatment is successful. Jules xx
