Pain clinic visit and honesty;-)

Yesterday went much better than I expected. We had a chat about the couple of comments she sent my GP that were soooo wrong. She was happy to explain what she meant and understood my concerns, bless her.

She asked me about the mild pain med I was taking and out of my mouth popped the amount that I've been taking. Ermmm, it much more than I'm supposed to but it did sorta, kinda take the edge of off the pain. I know that paracetamol is really bad for my liver. Turns out it was the right thing for me to do at last she because she believed how much pain I'm in. She is going to write to my GP so he can prescribe a pain patch for me. She would have given me the same thing in pill form but I told her that I really want to stop taking so many pills. As it is I take 15/17 bloody pills a most of them are for other conditions than pain. And I like the idea of a patch because if the pain is really bad I won't be tempted to just take "one" more to see if it helps.

I'm a firm believer in asking questions about drugs that you are going to be taking, so why did I have a brain fart and not ask her what it is? LOL my brain sometime sucks. Now I'll have to wait until I get a copy of the letter then do as I normally do and look it up.

Dr. Schofield is going on sick leave for three months. A locum is standing in for her and will do the spinal injections. I did remember to ask if they use sedation, phew yep they do and it's done under an xray so the needle goes into the right place. I am sooooo not looking forward to having this done. In fact I'm scared stiff! I hope it's done before John starts the radiotherapy, because the injections can cause worse pain for up to a week and I'm going to have to drive him on the 50 mile round trip.

My hubby is on a pain patch. He's on the 100 MG one. It has truly been a life saver. Very nice to see you blogging more often.

gam - I've known several folks who've gotten spinal injections (including Santini :)) and it seems to make an almost immediate improvement, hope it does the same for you...sounds like this could be the year you finally get some relief!!

I think it is too nelle, can't take just one more pill to see if it works.

I'll be glad when I find out which one Em. So I can look it up.

Lee I've had the injections in my neck in the past, but years ago and they didn't work. Still, I'm trying to be positive about it.
